Movie Reviews: The Forgotten and The Grudge

Only managed to get through a couple movies this weekend, both of them falling in the horror/suspense genre.
The Forgotten was one I didn’t know what to expect. I wasn’t sure what sort of movie it was going into it, I just knew that it would be a bit of a thriller. I don’t want to spoil it for anyone but I must say that how everything turned out was very much a surprise. It was a bit suspenseful but nothing too bad, certainly not on the level of movies like The Ring and Thirteen Ghosts (two movies that were, in my opinion, scary as hell). This one gets 4 stars.
The Grudge with Sarah Michelle Gellar, I knew going in was going to be a horror film but what I didn’t know was that it was based on a the famous Japanese horror film Ju-On. Plenty of tense moments throughout pretty much the entire film. Great use of music to highten the effect. If you are in the mood for a good old fashion scare-fest this is definetly recommended (be sure to watch it in the dark). This one gets 4.25 stars.
