Movie Reviews Update

I’ve been busy (and sick) lately so I haven’t had time to post my mini movie reviews lately. Here’s a bunch that we’ve watched recently. Sorry they will be really short today.
Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid: I’m a sucker for cheesy movies like this and surprisingly it wasn’t half-bad. That’s not saying that the acting was award winning or anything but the story was actually a bit believable and the special effects pretty decent. This one gets 3.5 stars.
Taxi: I can’t think of anything that I’ve seen with Jimmy Fallon in it so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I knew this would be a bit comical. There wasn’t quite as much comedy as I’d expected but this was a pretty cool movie. Some nice street driving scenes as well not to mention some sweet looking rides. Four stars for this one.
Little Black Book: Rented this one more for the misses but I enjoyed it as well. Very surprising ending though. A decent film never the less. Going to give this one 4 stars.
Flight of the Phoenix: I really wanted this movie to be great but I can’t help but feel disappointed. I don’t know why, I think I expected too much maybe and given that I didn’t know what the storyline was all about I was kind of surprised. There were times when the special effects were cool but other then that I wasn’t really impressed. Only giving this one 3 stars.
Friday Night Lights: I was excited when I received the email from Netflix that this one was on it’s way. I’d heard that it was a great film. I’d have to agree. This one gets 4 stars.
Saw: I actually got my wife to watch this one with me. She hated it of course and I can’t say that I blame her, it was a very disturbing film and incredibly gruesome at times. Recommended only if you are in the mood for a good horror flick but not if you are trying to spend a quality evening with a significant other. Giving this one 3 stars.
I just received notification from Netflix that we’ll have these movies for the weekend: Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, We Don’t Live Here Anymore, Garden State, Mean Creek so you can expect details about those shortly.
I also watched Taxi this week. Out being sick and all, I watched all the movies that came in from NetFlix. Thing is, mom and dad are a little slow to watch them, so I can’t turn them around as quickly as I’d like. I thought Taxi was pretty good. I have to agree the cars were pretty hot. The BMW 760 is one sweet car! And Queen Latifah’s cab, now that’s sweet! haha.
Little Black Book was decent also. I’m a sucker for Brittany Murphy, even though she’s got that cocaine addicted look going on.
Saw – Very gruesome indeed. The ending was quite the surprise on this one. Never even suspected it. Reminded me of Seven, years ago.
We just got done watching Ray, and I, Robot also. Ray is an eye opener if you really didn’t know much about his history. Made me sort of lose respect for the man in some ways, but I do still respect his music, and what he stood for. I, Robot, I was pretty impressed with also.
Oh yeah, and Friday Night Lights. Loved it. Compared to Remember The Titans, I think it was better overall. Emotionally speaking, no, but overall, yes. I was surprised to see Tim McGraw play such a dick though. I did like to see the way he turned around at the end of the movie though, and present his son with the respect he deserved. Its amazing to see how much of a way of life football is in the Midwest and the South.
